What are the Top Seasonal Vehicle Repairs?

If you own a vehicle, you probably already know that it requires routine, preventative maintenance to run like new. Depending on you vehicle's type, the manufacturer, and your local climate, your vehicle will need it's own particular set of regularly scheduled repairs. Below, we will outline the top seasonal vehicle repairs, and what those repairs typically entail.

During the spring and summer seasons, your car will require a few simple repairs. First, you'll want to check on the timing chain of your vehicle. Depending on the make and model you drive, it may need to be replaced. Typically, the timing chain needs to be completely replaced at between 80,000 and 120,000 miles. You should also have your trunk latch looked at, your brakes and suspension, as well as the wheel speed sensor. When it's hot, you'll want to take extra precautions to make sure your windows are able to go up and down, that your coolant is not running low, and that your vehicle's AC unit is generally running smoothly. Better to be prepared than sweating in your car on a hot day!

During the fall and winter seasons, the repairs that your vehicle will require also greatly depend upon local climate. When it starts to cool down outside, we definitely want to make sure the heater in the car is functioning correctly, as you don't want to be uncomfortable and freezing on your morning commute. It's also recommended that you check on your timing cover gasket, engine distributor, air springs, oil cooler lines and windshield wiper motors. It definitely wouldn't be safe to be caught in a snowstorm or other in-climate weather without functioning windshield wipers.

No matter what climate you live in, and what kind of car you drive, preventative maintenance is key. Getting the right work done on time can save you thousands of dollars, and lots of time at the mechanic's shop. Don't go without a vehicle because you didn't get your preventative maintenance this, no matter the season! If you need car repair or maintenance, give our auto repair shop a call today!
